I was born at 7,000 feet in the mountains of Northern Arizona and adopted as the youngest child of 6. The value of learning was just a part of life. Self-learning is a habit and a hobby. I believe quite strongly in the notion of “give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day, teach him how to fish and you have fed him for a lifetime.” When studying for my doctorate it was pounded into my head that the graduate school was not so much a place of learning but rather a place of learning to learn.

My formal education includes International Relations, French and Physical Education.  I have degrees in Philosophy and Business/pre law from Northern Arizona University and a Juris Doctorate degree from the California Western School of Law.   Several of my proudest achievements were serving as an adjunct professor at the Universidad de las Américas in Puebla and developing  the “Marketing is Education and Education is Marketing” program for Vietnam’s Post and Telecommunication Administration in 2001.  More recently, I completed the Lay Eucharistic Ministry course and preached for several years.  I currently sit as Chairman of the Site Council for Rancho Elementary, Spring Valley CA.  We are charged with overseeing the use of Title 1 funds.

The goals of Wesley House mirror my desire to help provide a constructive environment where students can focus on learning, including healthy lifestyle choices.  Between myself and my 3 adult children we have 10 university majors and 6 degrees. Certainly we must give back to the communities that helped us learn so much.

In addition to work on the Board of Directors, I hope I can help the wonderful staff lead by Jesus Gonzalez directly. I am a good sweeper and painter.
